YEAR 4

Wow, another term has flown by. The Year 4 students have been very busy this term.

In Literacy, the students have been doing Explanation writing as their writing type. They have produced many quality explanations of topics such as Life Cycles, What is a good friend? Why do stars twinkle? Jet engines and several other topics. The students have all shown great understanding and improvement in this writing type.

In Numeracy, Year 4’s practised their multiplication tables and had mini competitions in the classroom. They’ve measured the length, area and perimeter of different objects. They have been studying telling the time and maps. They’ve viewed different maps and found the location and given directions to others. The students have been practising division and multiplication of more than one digit. They’ve enjoyed carrying out surveys, recording data and making graphs.

During Art classes, the Year 4’s enjoyed making string art and then colouring it in, following the style of an artist Jackson Pollock.

The class has been learning about different countries around the world in Integrated Studies. They have learnt about different biomes, habitats and endangered animals and plants. They have learnt about the impact of humans on the world and the environment.

The class has worked really hard this term. They have shown good improvement. They’re more organized with handing in their homework and completing their online tasks.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday and comes back refreshed for Term 3.
